Fashion Trends: Future is Gold

They say the golden times are long gone. Let’s agree to disagree. Metallic shades on clothes and accessories tend to return as regularly as the seasons. Instead of copper, silver or colorful metallics there is a new player in town waiting for your attention – gold. Bold and unashamed it gives all the outfits an extra dose of glamour and individuality. Let yourself shine for a change!

Walking on Gold

Although gold might seem too extravagant at times, it is actually a pretty comfy color. It goes with almost everything and as long as you don’t overdo it (think more Carrie than J.Lo), you can keep it in your wardrobe for ages. Try to start small, with a pair of cool sneakers in gold or boots finished with a golden heel. If you’re feeling braver, try golden brogues, loafers, pumps or golden mirror boots. Golden shoes can upgrade even the most simple of outfits and give you that extra happy feeling wherever you go.

Wearing Gold

While in Summer all we wanted was rose gold, autumn has brought us back to warmer shades. Traditional yellow gold and more understated white gold looks very elegant and charming on a cocktail dress or an evening gown. Now, however, you can find a piece for your wardrobe that will take you from day to night effortlessly. Metallic colors are a big trend on puffy jackets, but also on boho and retro style blouses and tops or pleated midi skirts. If you’re searching for inspiration, look into the archives. Elements borrowed from the glamorous 80’s are having a big comeback this season, so fashion collections are full of puffy sleeves, lurex-like materials, ruffled blouses and skirts or chic dresses. Designers like Jason Wu or Gabriela Hearst have fallen in love with gold this season, but you can find lots of lovely pieces in more affordable brands, too.
